Glenn, your article about "balance" between hard work and fun for our cadets/children with reference to Team Europes bonding and their head coaches methodology is something I sicerely hope many coaches, here in Oceania can take on board as we strive to close the gap at the bottom of the development ladder. There are many of us out here reading the various blogs and following these events with a passion, so please keep up the educational BLOGS!!!

Does this mean that players born in 96 and 97 will not be able to play in the 2014 Youth Games either? I hope this is not true. This would mean that players born in the "correct" two years will be eligible but the others will never be allowed to qualify.

Does 4th place receive a medal? I see that the US team lost in the 3/4 place match. Regardless I am really proud of our Palo Alto Table Tennis Club girls, Ariel Hsing, Lily Zhang and Sylvan Guo.

Thanks Filipe.
All is very much a team effort and while we are regularly at these events, it does not diminish the joy we feel also.

As the Umpire responsible for the bulk of the World Cadet Challenge Boys Teams Final, I can truly say that it was indeed an event to remember; and Glen's words above brought back many incredible memories.

I can remember the tenseness between competitors as they squared off against each other. I can remember the crowd bellowing in the background. And I can recall the visible elation by Team Europe when I called the last point – the ensuing crowd uproar totally drowning my end-of-match announcements.

*The award winning photo of Team Europe erupting, does it for me every time.*

As an International Umpire who, due to circumstances, does not get many opportunities to witness high-powered Table Tennis first hand, the WCC & JCF was indeed a treat and a joy to be part off.

Congrats to all involved.
